MidCity President Appointed To Junior Achievement of WNY Board Of Directors

Buffalo, NY—In December 2011, Junior Achievement of Western New York (JA) announced that it had elected Kurt Amico, President of Buffalo-based MidCity Office Furniture, to its Board of Directors.  "It's an honor to be appointed so I can help the next generation develop skills that will allow them to be successful in life," Kurt says of his recent appointment.  Kurt's involvement with JA for the past 8 years demonstrates his personal commitment as well as MidCity's commitment to giving back to the local community.

When asked how he became involved with JA, Kurt stated, "Without support and assistance, kids won't be prepared to go into the workforce or to handle their finances.  This unpreparedness will affect all of society."  Kurt feels that by working with JA, he can lend support to these kids and help educate them so that they can go on to lead productive, successful lives that are enriching but also sustainable.

When the president of a company takes time out of his day to volunteer to help kids in the community, that sends a message about that company: both Kurt and MidCity believe it is important to invest time preparing the youth of today for the world of tomorrow.  Some of Kurt's contributions to JA's goals include being a committee member for the JA/Buffalo Niagara Sales Executives golf tournament, helping coordinate and participating in the annual JA Bowl-A-Thon and, most recently, teaching 8th graders at school 33 in Buffalo, NY the "Economics for Success" course.

You can see Kurt and others from MidCity at the JA Bowl-A-Thon again this year, which will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012.  For more information, including how to register, locations, and sponsorship opportunities visit http://wny.ja.org.
